It probably wasn’t necessary to make a robot outta that.

Damn you, coffee-serving robot, for being overly cheerful so early in the morning.

Color done in PS CS3
Well now that I look at it, her legs are probably too small, but I accomplished what I set out to do. Namely, drawing a ton of freckles and a shock of red hair.
Backgrounds? Who needs backgrounds.
I have also uploaded the raw ink lineart.

So,
Kevin Hanna is doing a comic called
Clockwork Girl. What is it about? Well, think ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ but instead of feuding noble houses we have feuding branches of science. Anyway, he put out an open call for contributions for pinup art and this was my entry. It’s gonna be in issue four (on stands end of April). I can’t freaking wait to see it.
Other than some concept sketches I did freehand, pretty much the whole thing was drawn and colored in Photoshop CS3. (if you’re interested, here is just the ink) I made the texture for the background from some free brushes I downloaded from Bittbox.

This image was born out of a conversation which detailed, among other things, sullen monkey train engineers riding tiny locomotives.

Ah, the Ladies Aeronautical Society. No finer past-time for a respectable young woman than to get out in the fresh air and exercise mind and body in the pursuit of the mechanodynamic sciences of flight!
Anyway, this drawing was inspired by an article I read about the pioneering women of flight. In keeping with the setting I tried to arrange my color scheme like an old photograph, even overlaying dust and scratches to age it.

The second of the ‘…and vice versa’ drawings. (see previous post)
Another drawing done completely in photoshop. It went a lot faster this time, I think I am getting the hang of inking with my tablet. (I still plan on getting a
Cintiq though.)
I might be mixing my eras in regards to clothing.

So, Jimmy Ether and his band are participating in the rpm challenge, which is a challenge to produce an entire album in the space of a month. Anyway he asked me to make some album art based on the songs he has written. Here is the first one…

Interesting thing about this drawing is that I did it completely in photoshop. You see, normally I draw the whole thing out with pen and ink, then scan it in for colors and such, but this time I did it all on my wacom tablet. Overall I prefer drawing by hand but this was good practice.
The bad news is that I was tired and I saved over the PSD, so no more editing can be done to it. Its been years since I’ve made a serious mistake like that, and I have gotten out of the habit of keeping backups. Oh well, Now I can’t obsessively tweak minuscule details for hours after I’ve supposedly finished.
